Loftus Stowe Ltd has advised business owners, directors and fellow professionals since March 2011. Tax work runs through the company, and legal work is delivered under our consultancy agreement with Nexa Law.
Loftus Stowe was founded in March 2011. Our clients are largely individuals, business owners and other professionals who need tax advice or business support from someone who has worked inside HMRC and inside a courtroom.
Most of our work sits where tax meets law. A winding up petition often turns on an HMRC arrears dispute, while a director investigation can hinge on the tax treatment of a single transaction. That overlap is where we tend to be most useful.
Legal work is delivered through our consultancy agreement with Nexa Law Limited, authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority under licence 633024.
Most clients arrive with a problem that straddles tax and law: a winding up petition that comes down to an HMRC arrears dispute, or a director investigation driven by the tax treatment of a single transaction. Loftus Stowe was built to handle these files.
Court action to challenge winding up petitions, apply for validation orders, and unfreeze bank accounts so the business can keep operating while the underlying dispute is resolved. This work is usually urgent and bound by a hearing date.
HMRC Time to Pay arrangements alongside renegotiation with other creditors, where the numbers allow it. The aim is to give the business room to recover while it continues to trade.
Acting for directors placed under investigation after a liquidator is appointed. The work covers personal liability claims, disqualification proceedings and challenges to transaction avoidance, where the tax background tends to matter most.
Thirty years of tax work applied to enquiries, settlements and planning, with particular depth in HMRC enforcement cases.
Loftus Stowe is built around one consultant by design. Engage the firm and you engage Femi directly: a qualified solicitor, tax adviser and former HMRC Inspector with over thirty years of experience across enforcement and advisory practice.
Femi's practice focuses on keeping viable businesses trading through financial pressure and acting for directors under investigation. Having worked inside HMRC before qualifying as a solicitor and tax adviser gives clients an unusual combination of authority perspective and advocacy.
Tax and consultancy work is delivered by the limited company, while legal work runs through a consultancy agreement with an SRA regulated firm. Both sit under the same consultant.
